Lisa Wong, or Huang Sufenin Mandarin, was elected mayor of Fitchburg, Massachusetts on Thursday. The 28-year-old Chinese-American lady received over 70% of the votes, and unseated four-term Fitchburg mayor Thomas Donnelly. According to CRIENGLISH,

Wong had been working for the Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority for six years, and had served as a first full-time executive director since she was 24. She has succeeded in attracting companies back into idle, local factories, thus adding revenue and creating job opportunities in the local community.

Wong was born to Chinese immigrants from Hong Kong, who have lived in the US for 35 years. Her father runs a restaurant and her mother works as a nurse. She graduated from Boston University as a major in economics and international relations.
