Jeff Koons' Hanging Heart sets auction sales record

Hanging Heart, a sculpture of a stainless steel heart hanging from a golden bow, has become the most expensive piece by a living artist ever auctioned. Sotheby's sold the piece at auction to the Gagosian Galleryfor $23.6 million(euro 24.9 million) Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 in New York.

The bright magenta "Hanging Heart" sculpture, nearly 9 feet tall and weighing more than 3,500 pounds, is from Jeff Koons'"Celebration" series, inspired by celebratory milestones such as birthdays and anniversaries.
