Three-year-old Qian Xun Xuewho was abandoned at Southern Cross railway station in Melbourne by her father, is shown in this police handout photo from September 15, 2007.

The father of pumkin, who had business troubles, left her at Melbourne's Southern Cross railway station, before boarding a plane to the US on Saturday. Pumpkin father has been identified as 54-year-old Nai Zin Xue, the director of a company that publishes the Chinese Times, and a kung fu expert.

Police spokesperson Noreen Hegarty says officers have visited addresses in Auckland and Wellington, finding no sign of the child's 27-year-old mother, Anan Liu.

Police in three countries were hunting on Tuesday for the parents of a little girl in a red jacket who was now being cared for by a foster family in Melbourne.

Update : NZ police find woman's body in abandoned toddler case

A woman's body believed to be missing mother of the Chinese toddler was found in the boot of a car in New Zealand, police said. Police are hunting for the girl's father who they believe caught a flight to Los Angeles.
