Adelfa Volpes, who is 82, married 24-year-old Reinaldo Waveqche
in Santa Fe, northern Argentina in a civil service after several years of engagement.
The bride was a friend of her young husband's mother, and has known him all his life. Their love blossomed when Reinaldo went to live with her after his mother's death when he was 15.
When she was asked if the marriage was purely spiritual, the new Mrs Waveqche laughed and said: "There's going to be more."
Reinaldo said he admired his elderly wife's zest for life and emphasised how special she was to him.
