Hayley the little girl who is stuck in the body of an 80-year-old

Hayley's just ten but a rare disease called Progeria has trapped her in an 80-year-old's body. It has driven her mother to the brink of suicide and almost torn the family apart - but now there's a glimmer of hope...

Finally, last month, the Okines were given a difficult choice: whether or not to let Hayley try out a potentially ground-breaking drug about to be trialled in the States.

Kerry says: "When we received a letter from Boston saying we had been accepted to try out a new antiageing drug, I felt excited and yet also sick with apprehension. "This is a drug that has only ever been used on cancer patients, and never on children with Progeria." The drug, which has so far been tested only on "progeria mice", will hopefully encourage Hayley to grow taller and her follicles to grow hair.

The family have flown to America, to Boston, for pioneering treatment which may stop the ageing process and save their daughter's life.
