Brendon Schweigart of Andover, 22, who is shot by a sniper in Iraq said his pocket-sized Bible tucked in his shirt saved his life by stopping a bullet near his heart. The U.S. soldier who always carried a Bible into battle, was helping retrieve a tank in Iraq when he was hit by a sniper's bullet earlier this month. The lucky soldier said he will stay in Iraq until his tour of duty is finished in winter.

Schweigart said he also thinks prayers from those in the United States helped him recover. "Thanks for the prayers and the letters," Schweigart said. "Everybody wishing me to be well and thanks everybody for the support." [From Local 6]
