18th century submarine stunned New York

Three men were arrested yesterday after an unidentified "submarine" was spotted close to where the Queen Mary 2 was docked in New York.

The partly-submerged craft had a small round hatch on top and appeared to be a replica of the Turtle, an early submarine used in the US Revolutionary War.

The vessel, with one person inside, and an inflatable boat carrying two people, were spotted near a security zone around the 2,620-passenger liner.

Police said that there was no indication of a link to terrorism. Link
