The greatest concentration of human oddballs on Earth happened in New York for the launch of the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium.

Full body tattoos were the tamest adornment on display as a bewildering array of pierced, popped and surgically perverted people showed up for the opening of the gallery behind the name famous for bringing the world's weirdness to public attention.

Dennis "The Cat Man" Avner displayed feline teeth and claws while Erik Sprague, also known as The Lizard Man, performed stomach-churning feats which included passing a giant corkscrew through his nose and out his mouth.

The parade of alternatively talented types was to mark the opening of a Ripley's Odditorium in New York's Times Square.
