A brave punter picks up a girl in the path of the beast during the annual Vacas das Cordas celebrations in the town centre of Ponte da Lima-Portugal.

Every year in Ponte da Lima, Portual, villagers chain a bull to the church and shower it with wine before releasing it into the streets. The festivities are part of the annual Vacas das Cordas, a 350-year-old tradition which relives the moment Christians turned a pagan temple into a church.
